Motivational Speaker

As a poet, fiction writer and a performance artist, jonetta rose barras is a riveting public speaker. Audiences as large as 5,000 and as small as 10 are held captive by her storytelling, woven with facts and important subject matter information. She simultaneously inspires, motivates and empowers.

jonetta has been a workshop leader or keynote speaker at national conferences in the United States and Europe. She has appeared at the Woman's National Democratic Club, Library of Congress, the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Head Start Institute,  the National Forum of Black Public Administrators, the New England Fathering Conference, the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, the University of Maryland College Park, the University of the District of Columbia, American University in Washington DC and Baruch College. jonetta has also presented workshops at several correctional facilities and appeared a featured speaker at the annual conference of correctional officers.

For nearly a decade, jonetta was the co-host of the popular radio show The Politics Hour with Kojo and Jonetta, which aired on WAMU-FM, an NPR affiliate. She subsequently, hosted The Barras Report on the University of the District of Columbia Cable Television Station. She also has appeared on CBS (60 Minutes), C-SPAN, CNN, PBS and Fox News.
